The Hallaton Hoard

The Hallaton Hoard is the largest deposit of Iron Age coins yet found. Fourteen years ago field walkers in the Leicestershire village of Hallaton found over 5,000 gold and silver coins dating from before the Romans arrived in Britain.
Peter Liddle, the former County Archaeologist for Leicestershire will describe the hoard and how it was found very close to a 'sacred grove', rather like the 'great sacred grove' at Vernemetum on the Fosse…
