The men were away, there were food shortages, darkened streets, many new regulations, harsh winters and a flu epidemic.
Carol is an author and public speaker and says her passion for history is entirely due to her history teacher Mr King who turned up at her first lesson in the uniform of a Great War soldier. The history group has been lucky to have had a talk by Mr King, illustrated with many of the artefacts from his collection. This talk is a fitting precursor to the service we are holding in St Luke's Church on October 28th, commemorating the lives of the eight men on our War Memorial and the centenary of the end of the war.
