We will be visiting the Church, walking around the village, viewing the Vale, and visiting the site of Francis Hacker’s house. Hacker was a famous former resident of Stathern who fought on the Parliamentary side in the Civil War. He supervised the execution of Charles I, and signed the order to the executioner.

For doing that he was subsequently sentenced to death, and hanged at Tyburn. As with all convicted traitors, his property was forfeited to the crown although subsequently bought back by a member of the Hacker family.

Cost is £5
